Here’s the story...
Ten Years Of Beautifying Homes...
I worked ten years for a construction company in south Florida (we’ll just
call them WR Construction).
I didn’t build the houses. No I was what they called the "punch out guy".
What I did was AFTER the homes were built... and the home buyers had already
moved in... I came around and fixed various little "mistakes"...
Things like shoddy molding jobs... doors that didn’t close right... re-caulking
bathtubs and windows... all the "small stuff" that really goes a long way
towards making a house into a beautiful home.
Often times, after fixing small things in a person’s home, they’d ask me
if I could fix bigger things... or help with full blown remodeling projects.
Things like...
• Refinishing kitchen floors...
• Installing hardwood floors or carpets...
• Laying tiles and other flooring in the bathroom...
• Finishing basements...
• And tons of other remodeling projects
So after a lot of pleading and begging from these home owners I started
saying yes.
I guess the construction company didn’t like that I was making money "on
the side" so...
They Fired Me!
But luckily, I was so busy doing remodeling jobs for the various people
who wanted me to (and their friends) that I never looked back.
But then I ran into a problem I never would of figured I’d be having...
I Got Way Too Busy!
You see, when you do good work the word gets around and before long I was
way too busy.
I had people asking me to do remodeling projects for them... and there
just weren’t enough hours in the day.
Some people really needed me to do the whole remodeling project... and
others... were the "Do It Yourself" type people who only wanted my advice,
or needed a little help.
The people that needed me to do it all, I couldn’t help (that’s just the
way it goes)...
But I started to think about how I could help those other people. The people
who were ready and willing to do it themselves but just needed a helping hand.
That’s when I noticed I had a lot of knowledge that could help these people
out... but I didn't have any good ways to teach them...
My Wife’s "Fool Idea"
My wife (God bless her) said that I should write a book about how to remodel
houses.
I’m not much of a writer, but I sure can talk (just ask my wife).
But thankfully, my wife can type pretty well.
So I went ahead and made an outline of all my best information on remodeling
