I got some magazines, some books, and started reading a lot of web sites

It's Easier Than You Think!
Turns out coming up with a patio idea that works for you is not complicated
once you know a few basics.
For instance, there's a certain type of patio that you can build yourself
and you don't even have to know how to lay bricks, use concrete, or anything
like that – it's almost completely "plug and play" (and you can get this type
of patio from almost any home improvement store).
Some of the reasons patios are easy are:

• In most cases, it's not as expensive as a deck, porch, sunroom or
